Information for Parents About Supervision of Parenting Time (page 2)

Safety Issues
Weapons or dangerous implements of any kind may not be brought to parenting times. No client may make threats or actualize any violent or harassing act before, during or after the supervised visit. No adult may physically discipline a child or threaten to do so. The Octagon House is a nonsmoking site. Negative comments about a parent, or their family, friends or partner may not be made in front of the child. Violation of these rules will result in suspension of visits with this supervisor and will be reported to the Court. The Kentwood police have been notified of the Supervised Parenting Time activities at The Octagon House and are prepared to respond promptly to any need.child or threaten to do so.

Additional Visitors
If a parent wishes to include additional visitors during supervised parenting time (such as siblings, relatives, etc.), permission must be obtained from the Supervisor and the other parent in advance, and the other parent in advance, and there must not be any court orders prohibiting contact with that person. If additional persons come to the parenting time with the intention of waiting for the supervised parent, their presence may not be uncomfortable for the Custodial parent, who may be waiting in the room also. Approval for such person*s presence must be obtained in advance from the Supervisor and the Custodial parent.

Withdrawal from Service Provision

The use of supervision for parenting time is not a right and the Supervisor can decline to continue providing services if she chooses. Reasons for withdrawal include, but are not limited to: continued contacts represent an unacceptable safety risk, a child appears to be significantly distressed by the contacts, parents are unable or unwilling to accommodate to the Supervisor*s available appointment times, parents arrive under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, parent does not comply with the supervisor*s request for a change of behavior (such as speaking in a negative way about the other parent in the child*s presence, becoming very angry, using inappropriate language, etc.)
